Improve Growth on Facebook

How to Improve your Growth on Facebook

So you’re using the Sendmode social media management application, you’ve seen your social score and now you want to take advantage of our tips to improve your growth.  If you need some clarification on what we’ve advised, you’re in the right place.  Below we’ve gone into more detail on each of the tips we offered you within the social media management application. Here’s how to Improve your Growth on Facebook:

Post more frequently

Perhaps you haven’t had time to post as often as you’d like.  We would recommend that you aim to post at least once a week on Facebook.  Try to allocate some of your time for coming up with relevant content and then use our scheduler.   The scheduler allows you to input each of your posts and decide what date and time you want the post to appear on the social media network. This means you can schedule all your posts at once and not have to worry about it again.

The frequency of your activity on Facebook will largely depend on what kind of business you are running, how often your customers want to hear from you and whether or not you have interesting things to tell them.  Be careful not to bombard customers with too many posts, if they aren’t relevant they may ‘unlike’ your page.  Conversely, if they’ve liked your page, that means they are interested in your business, so make sure you give them something to read.  You know your customers better than anyone, so you should have an idea about how often they want you to post on Facebook, and if you’re not sure, just ask them, it is a ‘social’ network after all.

Take advantage of our suggested optimal time to post content for further growth

Up until now you may have been posting on Facebook as and when you have had some spare.  But that might not be the same time that customers are online.  Your optimal post time has been calculated by evaluating when your fans are most likely to be on Facebook.  We’ve had a look at what times your fans have been online recently and based on our analysis we have recommended when you should be posting on Facebook.  The optimal post time is a guide which should help your growth and activity.  If the post time suggests 16.00hrs, you should try to schedule all your Facebook activity for around 4pm to maximise the amount of people that will see your content.  The more you post around our suggested optimal time, the higher your posts within optimal time percentage will be.

Ensure you have included the Facebook icon on all your literature and on your website if applicable

You cannot expect your Facebook page to grow if you do not promote it.  Offline promotion is just as important as online promotion.  There are Facebook logos available online which you can download and include in your literature for example; flyers, business cards, posters, pull up banners and brochures.  You should also ensure you have a Facebook icon on your email signature that is hyper linked to take the recipient straight to your Facebook page.  You can add it to email signature within your email settings.  You should also have a link on your website and/or blog or other social media pointing to your Facebook page.  You can add a Facebook logo to your website, your website designer will be able to assist you with this.

You could also ask your followers to share your page on their timelines

You can generate growth by asking your followers to share your page on their timelines.  However some may only do this if what you have posted will be of interest to their Facebook friends.  You could start by asking employees and family members to share the page as well, this may generate some growth from within your own network.

Claim your custom Facebook URL

You can customize the web address for your Page by choosing a username. To get started, go to  You can choose a username that Facebook suggests or create your own. Select Check availability to see if the username you want is available. If it is, click Confirm to confirm your choice. Note: You must be manager-level admin to choose a username for a Page.

Use hashtags (#) in your posts to stimulate growth

Using a hashtag on Facebook turns the word into a clickable link.  When you click on the link you’ll be able to see all the posts relating to that hashtag.  You can use hashtags in a number of ways; just remember to keep an eye on your social score to see if they are making a difference.

  • You can get your business in front of people who may not see your posts otherwise.
  • You can post the same content across all your social media platforms as hashtags are used in Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest posts.
  • You can use a special hashtag to promote a new product or special occasion.

Also remember that hashtags have to be all one word e.g. #sendmodeblog; capitalisation doesn’t matter; you can make up whatever hashtag you want; and research the hashtag before you use it.

You might want to consider targeting individual customer segments with personalised content

Instead of just posting general content, information and special offers, why not try to find out which of your customers are most receptive to Facebook than others.  For example, if you can see in your demographic information that most of your customers are males aged between 25-34 and you run a bar, why not post information about your drinks promotion which will run on Wednesday night during the Champions League match?  Tell your customers they must present the code you published on the Facebook post in order to avail of the promotion and then track how successful the post was.
