Community Text Alert Rebate Scheme

Earlier this month, the Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald, launched the Text Alert Rebate Scheme.

Speaking as she visited the National Ploughing Championships, Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald announced that the funding for the Community Alert programme now incorporates a new €100,000 rebate scheme for local groups registered under the Garda Text Alert Scheme. Each eligible group will receive a rebate of €100 towards their running costs.

The scheme will see groups receive a rebate on their eligible operating costs.

To be eligible, groups must:

  • Have registered with An Garda Síochána using form TA1, before 22 September 2016
  • Comply with the agreed Text Alert guidelines

Eligible costs include the following costs for the previous 12 months:

  • Costs of issuing texts
  • Cost of insurance

The national organization Muintir na Tíre ( www.muintir.ie ) will administer this scheme on behalf of all eligible Text Alert Groups and all groups should submit an application to Muintir na Tíre before 31 October 2016 on the application form below and enclose evidence of eligible costs. This can take the form of an invoice dated anytime within the previous 12 months.

The full press release is available here.
